I was invited by the publisher Rosenstiels to be a part of their Conservation International Collection, as one of twelve artists & photographers inspired by the charity and the work that they do to raise awareness of the fragility of our environment. My artwork was inspired by Conservation International's film, 'The Ocean'. When invited to create a piece of artwork for the category 'The Ocean', my mind went to one particular species which I knew had to be the focus of my piece - a Sea turtle. The lives of Sea turtles are threatened everyday by plastic pollution, illegal trade and the loss of their coastal homes and habitats. Though they have been a part of our planet for millions of years, it is a tragic fact that now nearly all species of sea turtles are classified as endangered. My illustration depicts an aerial view of a Green Sea Turtle, gliding through the Ocean. I wanted to focus my artwork on the intricate patterns and beautiful markings that adorn their flippers and shells.
This artwork is available through Rosenstiels as a Limited Edition of 25 prints, accompanied with a signed certificate, with all revenue being donated to Conservation International.
